MoDot and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety are using this week to remind you to watch where you’re going. Whether you’re driving, walking, or riding a bike, you should always stay aware of your surroundings. That’s the main message behind the statewide Pedestrian Awareness Campaign. In 2018, 97 pedestrians were killed in Missouri and 254 were seriously injured. Some of the safety tips they’re touting include:
– Drivers and pedestrians should try to make eye contact and not assume they have been seen
– Cross roads at cross walks or intersections
– Don’t wear headphones when you’re walking
– Wear brightly colored clothes when walking along a roadway
