The trial date of a Morgan County pastor accused of numerous sex crime charges in Moniteau County will be set this spring. Former Stover pastor, 44 year old Travis Smith of California faces several charges including forcible rape, second degree statutory rape, second degree statutory sodomy and sexual abuse related to alleged incidents dating back to 1998, 1999 and 2005. If convicted he faces up to life in prison. Smith was suppose to learn this month when his trial would take place; however, due to the legal trouble facing the Moniteau County prosecutor Shane Healea a special prosecutor has been appointed to the case and a new trial setting date of march 13th has now been set. Healea is facing charges of assault related to an alleged incident in which he left the scene of an accident after injuring four people at a Columbia bar in October. Police believe he was under the influence of alcohol when incident took place.
