Sunday’s Mass COVID 19 Vaccine Event Postponed To March Due To Weather

There’s a change in plans for Sunday’s mass vaccination clinic at School of the Osage as frigid temperatures continue in Lake of the Ozarks.

“For the safety of our citizens and the people setup to receive the vaccines, we have elected to postponed that from this Sunday February 14th to Sunday March 7th” says Lake Regional Emergency Management Coordinator Jennifer Newman.

She tells KRMS News you’re current appointment will still be valid and you can expect to be contacted for future arrangements.

“Everyone that had an appointment on this Sunday’s date will be called, and offered a new appointment on either March 7th or an earlier date. Even though we’re disappointed, we believe the it was the right decision due to the weather. Obviously our #1 priority is to provide vaccinations safety to our community, and we’re supporting our local health departments and other agencies in making the decision to postpone.”

The location of the mass vaccination event will remain School of the Osage for March 7th and the second-dose clinic is being moved to March 28th.

Lake Area Agencies Postpone Mass Vaccine Event

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — Due to an extreme weather forecast, the Missouri National Guard Mass Vaccination event at School of the Osage is being postponed from Feb. 14 to March 7. In addition, the second-dose clinic is being postponed to March 28th. All those who have an appointment will be called and offered a new appointment either on March 7 or an earlier date.

 “Although we are all very disappointed that we have to reschedule, it’s definitely the right choice,” said Dane W. Henry, FACHE, CEO of Lake Regional Health System. “Our priority is to provide vaccinations safely to our community, so we support our local health departments in this decision to postpone the mass vaccination event. All of the organizers are committed to providing new appointments to everyone who was on the schedule for Feb. 14. We will be calling them to provide their new date and time and, for some, a new local location.”

 Overall, demand for COVID-19 vaccination is still far greater than the supply providers in the area have received from the state. Lake Regional and other local health care agencies encourage people to register on the Missouri Vaccine Navigator at https://covidvaccine.mo.gov/navigator. They may also register by calling 877-435-8411.
