You’re always hearing about what the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District is doing, whether it’s saving a home or fighting a blaze. One thing you may not know is the department has officially changed their logo and patch, and they’re a reason for it. Fire Chief Dennis Reilly says it’s all in a part of the department’s goal to really connect to the community they serve
Reilly says the patch is a full representation of what the fire department means to its community. The new logo contains elements of the Maltese Cross which has roots from the 11th century, the color change to blue represents the loyalty the firefighters have to their community, red honors the sacrifices made by firefighters in the line of duty and gold on the cross indicates honor because it is pure in nature. A number was also place on it to represent those lost on 9/11.
