The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District is moving forward with plans to add more firefighters to their ranks. This is going to be possible because voters in August approved a tax levy increase that will give the district an additional 223 thousand dollars a year. Sunrise Beach Fire Chief Dennis Reilly says they will soon be starting the process of hiring three additional fire fighters.
Reilly says they will start screening applicants in January.
He says the goal is to have the first of the three new fire fighters ready to go by the start of May.
Reilly says they will be hiring certified fire fighters. Once they are hired, they will be completing a four week training session to get to speed with Sunrise Beach fire equipment and procedures.
