The Sunrise Beach Fire District now has more manpower after the graduation of six new firefighters from the training academy.

Chief Joseph LaPlant says the new firefighters spent five weeks training on a variety of topics which included physical fitness and confidence building routines.

The positions were made possible by approval of the 2020 budget and a new collective bargaining agreement with the firefighters union, and will insure that station house-3 is staffed 24/7.

The new firefighters are: Jeffrey Udall, Judd Douglas, Serge Balavan, Tyler Austin, Bradley Kane and Jacob Stonebraker.
