A member of the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District is denying allegations that he made threatening comments toward at least one other board member. Treasurer Robert Hemen tells KRMS News he never made a comment regarding family members of former President Brian Layman living within the district. Layman claims the statement came after a board meeting August 20th and filed a complaint with the Sunrise Beach Police. Chief Jeff Campbell says the investigation is ongoing and circumstances could change, but at this time he has no charges pending against Hemen. Layman later resigned his position on the board, leaving just Hemen in office along with Denise Dill, whose position is being questioned in a petition filed with the Camden County court.
