Voters in the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District will decide in April whether they want a larger board. A ballot issue requests voter permission to expand the board from three members to five. Chief Joe LaPlant says adding more members would allow them to more regularly make quorum to vote on official business. He says it also gives the community more of a voice in what their fire department is doing.
The vote will take place in the April primary. If voters say yes, they would then vote for the two new members during the April election in 2021.
