Sunrise Beach Man Facing Felony Domestic Assault Charges

A Sunrise Beach man is facing a class-A felony for a domestic assault involving serious physical injury in Camden County.

Courthouse records show deputies responded to a location on Putt’n Bay Drive and discovered an unidentified victim who reported that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend identified as Scott Gruber.

It’s alleged that Gruber lifted the woman off the floor by her throat, slammed her against a wall and threw her to the floor before striking her in the back multiple times with a closed fist.

Gruber, who took off from the scene before deputies arrived, reportedly made statements that he would go out “suicide by cop” before going back to jail.

Back in December, Gruber was also allegedly involved in a domestic assault at the same location and also faces pending charges in that case.

He was denied bond.
