Another two years are added to the Tax Increment Financing for the Woods Supermarket Development in Sunrise Beach. At their meeting last week, the TIF commission voted eight to one to approve the request by Sunrise Supermarket Developers, Inc.
One of those who voted in favor of the request was Camden County Presiding Commissioner Kris Franken. He says a big factor in his decision was the number of jobs created by the development.
The only no vote was Camden County 2nd District Commissioner Cliff Luber who said they need to be careful about giving away too much free money. He also said that TIF’s need to be considered on a case by case basis.
The extension of the TIF will give developers another 256 thousand dollars during its 19 years of existence. The TIF would end in 2032 with total collections between six point six and seven point three million dollars. There was no public comment during the meeting.
