A tip to New Mexico State Police leads them to Arizona and two suspects wanted in the kidnapping of a Miller County boy.
41 year old Elizabeth Denman and her boyfriend, 40 year old Mark Cochran, were captured about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in the city of Phoenix. The two suspects had been involved in a high speed chase with New Mexico state police early Monday morning near Gallop, New Mexico.
A traffic stop for a dead headlight led to the chase in a stolen car. Police stopped the vehicle with stop sticks and the suspects abandoned the vehicle, leaving 5 year old Devon Denman in the backseat on the New Mexico desert highway. The two suspects fled into the desert, launching a 200 square mile area manhunt that began Monday morning and was decreased in scope Tuesday morning.
Devon was reunited with his father on Monday after the boy was taken at gunpoint Saturday morning at about 1:15 from the father’s house near Village Marine in Miller County. Elizabeth Denman and Mark Cochran were taken into custody in Phoenix without further incident. According to the FBI the two did have weapons on them when they were captured. We will have more details once they become available.
