The man who killed two people at a Lake of the Ozarks campground won’t be sentenced until at least next month. Gary Sweet of Rolla was granted a bifurcation at his hearing in a Miller County courtroom Wednesday. Sweet shot and killed Jim and Sheri Parker at River View RV Park in November of 2017, a few weeks after they had kicked him out of the park. Sweet was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday but his wife, who was going to be the primary witness in the defense bid for a lesser sentence, passed away unexpectedly last week. The prosecution presented their case including victim impact statements from family members of the deceased. The parties will return to court July 19th when the defense will present their case before sentencing.
