The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri has been chosen as one of five finalists for a chance to receive $100,000 from the Walmart Foundation Associate Choice Program. The Food Bank would use the grant money to support the Buddy Pack program, which provides backpacks full of food to children in need on weekends and holidays when they are not receiving school lunches. The Buddy Packs are distributed to students at 126 schools, including those in the Eldon Upper, Iberia, Leland Mills, Osage Upper and Eldon South districts. The winner of the $100,000 grant award will be announced after August 6th.
