The Lake of the Ozarks has gotten some help with promoting itself as a tourist destination. The Missouri Division’s awarded over $300,000 to the Tri-County Lodging Association. The TCLA serves as the Designated Marketing Organization of the lake area and applied for matching marketing funds in five categories: destination advertising, convention marketing, research, public relations and leisure travel marketing. Matching funds will come from the TCLA and Area Business Districts. The funds will help advertise and promote the lake on a larger scale than normally would be feasible. The main goal of the program is to bring more visitors to the lake, to increase tourism revenues for accommodation facilities, restaurants, attractions, golf courses and retail stores.
