The final demolition of the old hurricane deck bridge brought out several on-lookers yesterday. 47 pounds of explosives blasted away the final section of the 70 year old bridge. The explosion could be heard from miles away. Construction of the new bridge which opened in September and demolition of the old one cost 32-million dollars in state and federal funds. Several weeks will now be spent retrieving the metal which will be placed on barges and then processed and salvaged as scrap metal.
