If you’ve been a victim of crime, you may have some money waiting for you. Under Missouri law, crime victims are entitled to compensation. That money is collected and distributed by county prosecutors. Camden County Prosecutor Heather Miller, though, says sometimes that money doesn’t get to where it belongs. Sometimes people move or just don’t keep their address up to date, which makes it difficult to dole out the funds. Miller says they currently have about $14,000 in unclaimed funds that will be sent to the state treasurer’s unclaimed property account. If you’ve been victimized and feel you may have some unclaimed restitution, go to the state treasurer’s website for unclaimed property, which is www.showmemoney.com .
