Three people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash on Hwy 5 just north of Santa Fe Road in Morgan County Friday afternoon. According to the Highway Patrol, a pickup driven by 44-year-old Eric Stringer of Gravois Mills crossed the center line and struck an SUV driven by 42-year-old Lisa Van Lerberg of Shawnee, Kansas. Both drivers were seriously injured. Stringer was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia. The Highway Patrol says he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. Van Lerberg and her husband, who sustained minor injuries, were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Both vehicles were totaled and highway was closed while the wreckage was cleared.
