When is “fake news” ACTUAL news? When it begins to occupy the time of REAL news agencies and first-responders. An article posted online at a prank website caught the attention of several people, and then, like an elementary school game of “telephone” it turned into a “reported sighting” of a tiger on the loose in the Laurie/Sunrise Beach area. People began called the KRMS newsroom and local law enforcement agencies Friday night trying to get more information. The reaction was strong enough to prompt the Morgan County Sheriff’s office to make an online post pointing out that the story was a complete hoax and a reminder that “not everything you see on the internet is factual.”
