The pursuit for a tournament soccer complex is still on. The Tri-County Lodging Board of Directors has voted to continue pursuing the development of an 8-field complex expected to attract teams from across the state as well from out of state to the lake area. The vote encourages members of the Lake of the Ozarks Area Business Districts in Camden, Miller, and Morgan counties to place a lodging tax increase on the ballot in the general election. The Camden and Miller County business districts have already voted to continue pursuing the project. Morgan County’s district is expected to weigh in when they meet in March. Raising the lodging tax to six percent in all three counties would generate a large part, but not all, of the funding necessary to construct the complex, which is expected to generate up to $75 million in annual economic impact to the region.
