With the Memorial Day Holiday weekend coming to an end… the Missouri State Highway Patrol once again participated in special enforcement operations during the holiday travel period. They ‘increased their presence along the roadways to enforce traffic laws and help motorists in need. Two special enforcement efforts… the 20 mile trooper project, where troopers are stationed at 20 mile intervals along designated highways to watch for speeding and traffic violations. Operation CARE another specialized enforcement which is an accident reduction effort. It requires all available officers to be out providing assistance and trying to help reduce traffic accidents. The holiday traffic counting period coming to an end at Midnight Tuesday.
