A standoff in Syracuse early Sunday afternoon comes to an eventual peaceful ending and the arrests of two people. Morgan County Sheriff Norman Dills says deputies responded after receiving a report of one male subject threatening another with a firearm. Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly refused to come outside prompting the residence to be surrounded and a portion of U.S. 50 being closed to traffic. Phone contact was established with the suspect who, eventually, surrendered while a second subject inside the residence was also taken into custody. Courthouse records identify the two as 36-year-old Brandon Tate and 42-year-old Amy Wyatt. Tate is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon-exhibiting and while in possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, armed criminal action and fourth-degree assault. Wyatt is charged with felony possession and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
