Three people are taken to the hospital, including a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper, after a two boat collision on the Lake of the Ozarks. The collision happened on Thursday night at the 15 mile marker of the main channel. A patrol boat driven by 35-year old Stephen Burgun of Jefferson City was going upstream while a boat driven by 55-year old Brian Pecenka of Lake Ozark was traveling downstream. Pecenka’s boat did not have its bow lights on and turned in front of Burgun’s. The vessels collided and Pecenka’s boat capsized. He was taken to an Osage Beach hospital before being taken to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries. Burgun and a passenger on Pecenka’s boat, 62-year old Nicholas Kamakas of St. Louis were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. Two other passengers on Pecenka’s boat were injured but refused treatment at the scene.
