Two people are dead after a head-on collision along south highway-5, near Mount Horeb Road, in Camden County. The highway patrol says it happened late Thursday morning when a pick-up truck driven southbound by 42-year-old James Hill, of Holts Summit, crossed over the centerline striking the northbound vehicle driven by 50-year-old John Slaven, of Fair Grove. Slaven was pronounced dead a short time later at Lake Regional. His passenger, 49-year-old Cheryl Barton, also from Fair Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither one had been wearing a seat belt. The other driver, Hill, escaped with moderate injuries and was treated at Lake Regional. He was wearing a seat belt at the time.
