In a year which is on track to be more dangerous on statewide waterways compared to last year, the Water Patrol division of the Highway Patrol is breathing a sigh of relief after two calls which could’ve had very different end results over the weekend. Sergeant Chris Daniels says that there were two calls received initially classified as missing persons. The first, around 3:30 Saturday morning, was reported as a possible drowning of an individual who was on a kayak near the 50-mile mark. The second, around 4:00 Sunday afternoon, involved a woman on a jet ski near the 60-mile mark. In both cases, before troopers arrived on the scene, Daniels says that both of the individuals had found their ways back to where they were staying and reported as safe.
