A nationwide effort targeting underage drinking and substance-impaired driving, in general, is right around the corner. Authorities in the Lake Area will be out in force for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign with an especially watchful eye on our youth. Lieutenant Michael O’Day, from the Osage Beach Police Department, says it’s no coincidence that the effort is being conducted at this time of the year.
O’Day goes on to say, in general, those who are younger than 17 and caught under the influence will have their parents called, receive a summons and a court date. Those 17-and-older will likely receive a free ride to the county jail and have to bond out. The official crackdown begins tomorrow and will run through May 14th.
