Unemployment Numbers From February

The number of unemployment claims in the lake area are up.

Figures provided by the state department of labor for February indicate there were 103 new claims with a jobless rate of 6.9 percent in Camden County.

There were also 73 new claims with a jobless rate of 5.6 percent in Miller County and 48 new claims with a jobless rate of 5.9 percent in Morgan County.

Statewide for February, the department reported 11,305 new claims which translated to an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent…the same figure reported for January.
