Unemployment numbers of those actively seeking work are being released for the month of December and show local figures are a little higher than the state average. In Camden County the unemployment rate is 7.4 percent, Miller County checked in at 6.8 and Morgan County was 6.5 percent. Statewide the number is 5.4 percent which is slightly below the national average. The Missouri House has also passed a bill which could change the number of weeks someone can collect unemployment benefits as it would link that number to the state unemployment rate. The bill now goes to the senate.
