The state’s unemployment rate is holding steady. According to the latest jobs report issued by the Department of Economic Development, January’s unemployment rate stood at 3.7%, unchanged from December. The total number of unemployment claims actually went up, although just slightly – increasing by 971. Total nonfarm payroll was up by 4900 for the month. Service jobs saw the largest increase, adding 6800 jobs. The largest decrease came in accommodation and food services, which lost 3,000 jobs. The full report can be viewed here.
