Governor Jay Nixon has declared a disaster because of the severe weather overnight. The governor issued a disaster declaration this morning, allowing the state Emergency Management Agency, Highway Patrol and other state agencies to help local officials with emergency response. Shelters also have been set up for residents affected by the storms in Branson, Buffalo, and Lebanon. Nigel Holderby is with the American Red Cross:
At least one death has been confirmed at a mobile home park south of Buffalo. 12 other injuries are reported there. In the Lebanon area, semis were overturned on Highway 32. The roof was ripped off the Bennett Springs fire station and there was damage to the roof of the Walmart store in Lebanon. And the Walmart in Branson. Branson Mayor Reanne Presley describes the situation there:
A hospital in Branson reported treating 33 people.
