A court filing claims a Kansas City law firm owner used a forged legal document to deny her father life-sustaining medical treatment after he was shot at their Sunrise Beach home nearly two years ago. 44-year-old Susan Van Note was arraigned this afternoon in Boone County on charges of forgery and first-degree murder. She entered a plea of “not guilty.” Van Note’s 67-year-old father, William was shot in October 2010 along with his 59-year-old companion, Sharon Dickson. She died at the scene of the shooting. Van Note died four days later at University Hospital, which is why the charges were filed in Columbia. The case is being handled by Camden County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Keedy. Van Note is being held on $1 million cash-only bond.
