The US National Weather Service in Springfield has raised the Fire Danger level to “Significant Danger.”

In a social media post Monday, the service warned of weather conditions which increase the possibility of fires spreading out of control. Warm, dry, gusty conditions are expected, which they say can lead to erratic spreading of flames.

The service goes on to advise people against any reckless burning during the elevated condition, and to consider the appropriate disposal of cigarettes.
