The USDA has announced a $56 million investment to help agriculture producers improve water quality. The funding comes in two programs – the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative, and the National Water Quality Initiative. They provide technical and financial assistance to help farmers avoid, control, and trap nutrients and sediment. The Mississippi River Basin program will include $17.5 million this year and will be spread among 13 states, including Missouri. For more information on both programs, contact your local Natural Resources Conservation Service office.
