Residents of Versailles are questioning a decision made sporadically by the Board of Aldermen to let go of a police officer just before Christmas. According to a report, the officer, Jeff Hunter, was requested to resign by the board at their closed meeting on December 22nd. While the request was voluntary, the board also made it a point to produce a job termination had he chosen not to resign. Hunter did not resign and was terminated on December 23rd at noon and both he and the city are refusing to comment on the situation. A local group of residents are now creating a group that is planning to hold a demonstration, as listed on the group’s page, between 5 and 7pm this Saturday December 27th in protest for his termination.
