A longterm project to improve wastewater issues in Versailles continues. Mayor Terry Silvey says the first two phases, installing an interceptor line to move more affluent and upgrading the treatment plant, have been completed with the city now in the third phase dealing with other sewer line issues which is close to being put out to bid and expected to be finished sometime next year. The final phase includes installing an additional main trunk line. Moving wastewater from the city to the treatment plant should bring the overall project to an end in the next two or three years. The wastewater project was made possible when residents gave the city overwhelming support to pursue up to $8.9 million dollars worth of funding in the form of a U.S. Rural Development bond.
