The Secretary for the village of Tuscumbia has been arrested for stealing money. According to a release from Sheriff Bill Abbott in Miller County, Cheryl Sears was taken into custody on January 28th and was charged with four counts of class c felony stealing for stealing monies from within the general revenue fund for the village. Abbott says the arrest stems from a report that was initiated by the presiding board member of the village. Abbott says the board member was reviewing bank statements and notices discrepancies involving the salary being paid to sears. During an investigation by the Miller county sheriff, it was discovered that sears had been paying herself more than her allotted salary. Sears is currently being held in the Miller county jail on a $100,000 surety bond or $22,000 cash bond.
