Missouri voters may get to decide later this year on the issue of greater religious protections for individuals and business owners who oppose same sex marriage. Supporters say a proposed constitutional amendment would ensure people of faith aren’t forced to participate in or lend their support to marriage ceremonies that violate their religious beliefs. The first hearing for the proposed measure was held on Tuesday (23) in front of a Senate committee, with a vote expected next week to advance the measure to the full senate for consideration. If approved, it would go on the statewide ballot in November. The ACLU is opposes the measure.
