A man was hurt in a waterskiing accident on Lake of the Ozarks Monday afternoon. 22-year-old Brandon Meyers of Crown Point, Indiana was crossing a boat wake when he fell. He was taken to Lake Regional Hospital. It happened at the 9 mile mark on the Grand Glaize Arm around 5:00.
Earlier in the afternoon on Monday, 24-year-old Jessica Rew of Independence was a passenger in a rental boat driven by her father at the 11 mile mark and she was thrown in the air, hitting her head and injuring her ankle. She was taken to Lake Regional.
On Sunday, a passenger on a Runabout fell when it hit a wake from a large cruiser near the 38 mile mark. 60-year-old Jerry Porterfield of Lone Jack, Missouri was taken to Lake Regional Hospital.
Otherwise, boaters kept the lake safe over the Fourth of July Weekend. No reports of any drownings, collisions or groundings.
Water Patrol Captain Matt Walz says increased B-W-I enforcement and boater education helped reduce the number of drunken boaters on the water over the holiday weekend.
