A big chunk of real estate could soon be on the market in downtown Waynesville. The board of education’s endorsed the school superintendent’s recommendation that the former middle school and surrounding property be declared surplus property. Superintendent Judene Blackburn says the district’s going top try to sell the property using sealed bids. The property includes 9 acres of athletic fields and almost 4-acres of building and paved area. They still have to work out the best way to advertise the real estate.
