Two people are injured, including the Warsaw police chief and a 16-year-old suspect, after shots rang out in Benton County. Reports indicate that Chief Jason Wenberg responded around 8:15 Friday morning to a report of a suspicious subject and, upon arrival, an altercation ensued. The unidentified 16-year-old, allegedly, was involved in a high-speed pursuit the night before shooting at officers and then fleeing on foot. When confronted Friday morning, the juvenile pulled a handgun and fired at Wenberg striking him in his ballistic vest. Wenberg, who reportedly returned fire striking the suspect, was treated and released. At this time, reports indicate the suspect is in stable condition. The highway patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating the incident.
