More than a million dollars in grants have been awarded to Missouri schools and the Department of Public Safety to improve security measures. The funds can be used to educate and train faculty and students to support first responders when they arrive on scene following an incident of violence. Stoutland R-II schools will receive just over $84,000 while Warsaw R-IX has been awarded more than $142,000. Both fall under the School Violence Prevention program, which can also include training for law enforcement, metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other deterrents.
