2014 has been a watershed year for the Missouri National Guard. That’s according to Adjutant General Steve Danner who says the guard completed one mission and took on another. Since 9/11, individual guardsmen have supported more than 20,000 overseas deployments and more than 13,000 domestic mobilizations. Danner also says all Missouri combat units are now home from war with the 220th engineer company returning this month from their deconstruction mission in Afghanistan. At home, the guard supported law enforcement during the unrest in Ferguson and also contributed more than a billion dollars to the state’s economy this year with part of that success coming thru recruiting and retention efforts.
