The fire that destroyed a home on Velvet Antler Road in Camden County last weekend may have been caused by a short-circuit in a heating pad or electric blanket, according to Mid County Fire Chief Scott Fransden:
Flames spread thru the attic of the three-bedroom ranch-style home. Firefighters had to pull down the ceiling, which caused the roof to collapse:
Fransden says only about 25 percent of the house suffered actual fire damage, but due to water and heat damage, it was declared a total loss.
