For the most part, it was a fairly quiet weekend on the water again. The Water Patrol reports only one BWI arrest, occurring Friday night when 49 year old Jeffrey Howell of Sunrise Beach was driving recklessly and caused 50 year old Kim Howell, also from Sunrise Beach, to be ejected from the vessel. There was, however, a bit of a scare around the 7 and a half mile marker of the Gravois Arm when multiple units responded to what they thought was a boat fire. The Gravois Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mount Fire Protection District both responded to the call but were disregarded before they arrived after the Water Patrol confirmed that the vessel had only overheated, not caught fire. The vessel was then towed away by another vessel.
