The Mid-County Fire Protection District continues to see a downward trend in call load this year. They responded to 150 calls in November, down from 172 last November. Overall for the year, their call load has dropped slightly, down by 31 from this same time period in 2017. Chief Scott Frandsen says a wet spring and fall have played a big part in that. The weather has helped reduce the number of natural cover fires the department has had to handle. At this time in 2017 they had responded to 134 natural cover fires. This year, that number stands at just 78. As always, if you are planning to burn, you’re reminded to call the burn hotline at 573-346-3262 to find out if weather conditions permit burning that day.
