Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is strongly urging eligible donors to give blood this week following last week’s winter storm. That storm caused numerous blood drives to be cancelled and resulted in the loss of over 800 scheduled blood donations. Chris Pilgrim is marketing manager for Community Blood Center of the Ozarks and says the blood center runs a tight inventory schedule.
The area remains on a CODE YELLOW ALERT for type A negative and type O negative blood. A Code Yellow Alert means there is less than a two day supply of blood for use by patients at 38 area hospitals. Donors to Community Blood Center of the Ozarks provide all of the blood and blood products to patients at thirty-eight area hospitals. To hold a blood drive at your church, school or business, call CBCO at 1-800-280-5337.
