Backlash directed at Camden County Commissioner Steve Dougan, accused of sexual harassment and retaliation toward individuals in the administrative building, took the spotlight during Tuesday’s commission meeting.
During the meeting, a censure resolution issued by the Camden County Republican Central Committee was presented with some in the crowd calling for Dougan to pay the county $15,000 for the outside investigation into the issue and to further resign from the position.
Following public comments put on the record, Dougan was given a chance to respond during which he stated that he will not step down.
Spending the funds for that outside investigation was approved by the commission.
The investigation determined that a sexual harassment judgement against Dougan could be rejected by a jury or a judge but that it was clear there would be a case against Dougan for retaliation.
