The National Traffic Safety Board has released its findings into the causes of a helicopter crash in Sullivan and an airplane crash in Golden, both earlier this year.
The cause of the helicopter crash on January 29th was due to the pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from powerlines during low-level operations which resulted in two minor injuries while the cause of the airplane crash on February 21st, according to the NTSB, was the pilot’s failure to establish a stabilized approach and execute a go-around resulting in not having enough runway before going through a ditch and coming to rest in a grass embankment.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in that incident.
