A license plate reader is being credited as having played an instrumental role in the recovery of a stolen vehicle out of Kansas and the arrest of a suspect who faces felony charges in Phelps County.
Rolla Police Chief Sean Fagan says the plate reader along southbound U.S. 63 near Rolla hit on the Kansas license plate which resulted in Clinton Peck of Lansing, Kansas, being pulled over.
During the stop, Peck took off from the scene striking a parked vehicle before continuing on including traveling the wrong way on one-way streets.
He eventually pulled over again and was captured after a brief foot chase.
Peck is formally charged with aggravated fleeing, tampering with a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident and has since been released after posting a $100,000 bond.
