12-Year-Old Boy Drowns After Being Swept Downstream at Low Water Crossing

A 12-year-old boy from Lathem is dead after he and a 15-year-old boy, also from Latham, were swept off a tractor while trying to cross a low water crossing in Moniteau County.

The highway patrol says it happened just after 3:00 Monday afternoon two miles down from the 67,000 block of Hazel Dell Road.

The 15-year-old was able to self-rescue while the body of the 12-year-old was located downstream.
