5-Year-Old Steeleville Girl Drowns After Falling Through Ice on Private Pond

A 5-year-old Steelville girl is dead after drowning when she walked onto a private pond off Highway-M in Crawford County and fell through the ice.

The highway patrol says it happened just 5:00 Tuesday afternoon.

The girl was not wearing a safety device and was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead a couple hours later.
